Street Prophets did a post called The Debate Over Who Receives Holy Communion Continues. It was about the RCC’s recent affirmation (by the Pope) that only faithful Catholics may be given communion at RC Altars. The Prophets compared this to the United Church of Christ’s (and UMC, etc) open table. 92 comments. I was hoping for some curious discussion of open communion. Instead it quickly devolves into Catholic bashing crossed with confusion about RC doctrines… and suddenly turns into an odd mix of “everyone bashing everyone else.” Not hard bashing, mind you - most of it is caused by confusion or else a wilful refusal to acknowledge that another real Christian might believe something else.
By our love, really. you know. Not our theology (or our agreement on it…)
