THIS is a way cool story. It’s not every legal conflict that brings together the American Civil Liberties Union, a gay rights group and conservative Christian law firms — on the same side. This is a good followup to the paddling issue reported in my earlier post: schools just do not have the right to act like this. And left and right agree. A school can not punish a student for his free speech - when not on school time, nor property. Imagine: you went to Church last night, you can’t come to school this morning. This case come before the US Supreme Court next week. Here’s the Wiki write-up.
Update: there seems to be some disagreement about the “not on school time” part of the equation. But ok…
