Been playing with WordPress themes today. Seems like the one I have, MistyLook by Sadish Balasubramanian (modified with some of my own colours and a new header image), is one of the most up-to-date themes out there: it works with all the newest plugins and widgets, it seems to access all the newer features, and does so with menu-driven management (instead of the need to manually edit code or whatnot). The only disappointment in all of this is that earlier themes by even the same artist fail to live up to these now high-set standards.
At one point today I managed to break the SQL database and had to reset all the options in my sidebar (plus run a repair on the SQL) just to get everything back to good-to-go. I’ve learned from those mistakes! I’m sorry if you saw something scary during the process. I had wanted to install the theme I currently have living over on +Z’ev, but that don’t work so well with the newer features at all! I had duplicate and triplicate (and quadruplicate and beyond) posts running up and down the main page. Grf!!
So, back to the drawing board… I’m thinking I may need to tweak that theme, adjust it so that it works right (with all the newer features). I may just need to get a working them (ie, this one) and merge them via the CSS. Maybe.
It’ll be a geeky project :-) and may take some time! I have three or four days off next week, though, with nothing planned as of yet!
