A Reconstructionist Takeover Video

(That’s the regressive, Christian Reconstructionist sort, not the progressive, Jewish sort.)
Found over at Mainstream Baptist: it tells the story of the scary, theocratic take over of the Houston, TX, republican machine in the early 1990s.
In February 1990 I received an unsolicited video in the mail. The video came from a Dr. Stephen Hotze and was entitled Restoring America: How You Can Impact Civil Government. Filmed at a church in my neighborhood, I recognized the actors as the pastor and congregants of an Independent Fundamental Baptist church (the Jerry Falwell kind). The video was a guide on how to 1) take over a Republican Party precinct meeting, 2) elect ‘Christian’ delegates to the GOP District meeting, and 3) put planks supporting the theocratic agenda of Christian Reconstructionism into the party platform.
Here’s the scary part:Today, nearly all the planks that Hotze suggested can be found in the current platform of the Texas Republican Party.

Well Huw, it happened again. I typed my typical “short” comment (GRIN), made sure I had the anti-spam word in place and hit submit. The web page then claimed that I had the wrong word. I hit back and my comment was gone.
This is the fifth or sixth time this has happened to me since you went with the new blog format.
copy and paste. especially if you take a long time to write (actually, taking a long time to write may be the problem: the server times out and, in effect, issues a new code word). or, go down to the bottom right corner, click under meta on register. You won’t have to type a code word again.
Woo Hoo,
So I should stick to 30 second talking points? ROFL!
