OM! BRAVO Vishnu Shivah!
Let’s have a round of applause for the US Senate’s opening of its guest-chaplain pulpit to a Hindu for the first time ever:
For what is believed to be the first time in its history, the U.S. Senate will on July 12 be opened with a Hindu prayer, the Senate Chaplain’s Office confirmed Monday.Rajan Zed, a Hindu chaplain from Nevada, on will become the first Hindu to deliver the morning prayer. In a statement announcing his scheduled appearance, Zed called the occasion “an illustrious day for all Americans and a memorable day for us.”
Considering how some on the right wing are being a little unreality-based in their reactions, I imagine this might very well be the first time a polytheist of any sort has opened the Senate.
Bravo to the US Senate.
Congratulations to the US Hindu community.
MANY YEARS! to Rajan Zed.
(Props to Friendly Atheist.)
