Televangelist D. James Kennedy has passed away. (Being an Ultra Conservative Presby I assume he was Calvinist. Does one fall asleep in Predestination?)

I was told by my former Director (in 1994) that DJK was being investigated by the Anti-Defamation League for contact with Anti-Semites, Anti-Gays and White Supremacists. I’ve no idea what the outcome of that was, but that was the last time I listened to him on TV or paid any attention.

Seems that “American families have lost one of their most passionate, effective defenders” – according to James Dobson.

Correction – some familes were never defended by the man. Actively attacked is more like it. That would be the families of most of my friends. The man is free to do as he wishes or as his heart dictates, of course… but let’s call a spade a spade.

As the paper said, the man “campaigned tirelessly to tear down the constitutional wall separating church and state.”

Kennedy once declared it his followers’ “job” to “reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost. As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise Godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media our scientific endeavors — in short, over every aspect and institution of human society.”

Seems to me America Liberty has lost one of its greatest opponents. But his legacy will live on.
