I love the ad: a brilliant political ploy, actually. But the point seems to me that no one wants a politician who can evolve his (or her) opinions. Everyone thinks that once you say something in public you should be stuck saying that forever.
Ahem. People change.

It was George Wallace’s problem. After he was paralyzed, and then apologized, no one would believe his “change.” After all, he was the ultimate evil icon, Darth Vader himself. Certainly nearly dying and having to reflect on his life could not have changed him. No no no!
People can change and develop. It is too bad that we will not allow them to in politics.
well, there is a difference between evolving opinions and opportunism :)
Brian - too true. And more, in politics it’s hard to tell the difference.
