Listening to the strains of Carmina Burana, I pulled out of Asheville, having said good-bye to one of the best friends a guy could ever have.
The new car/old Saturn named Delta Sue gets nearly 40 MPG on the highway.
Current location: Grove City, PA - a Best Western, to be exact. I took a break at about 7 or 8PM last night and slept until about 7AM today. It was an exhausting drive - roads were good, traffic light. But I think something about driving in the day time is more tiring than driving at night. Don’t know.
I took some pictures of tourist sites as well as the odd crosses that litter the WV countryside. I use the word “litter” on purpose: they seem to be strewn in a haphazard manner more to ward off evil on the highways than anything else. And they’re all painted the same: a gold cross between two white ones. I want to call whomever and say, “you know, only the middle one did anything…” but whatever. Absentee Evangelism is always bogus.
Anyway: free breakfast at the hotel, then… I don’t know. It seems all the Episcopal Churches in this neck of the woods only have deacons - and none with decent websites: they need a circuit rider. But I know western NY is in no better situation. I’m not dressed, really, for any guest appearances, anyway.
And I need to get some kind of charger for my cell phone in the car. Nothing opens for another 3 hours, however: it’s Sunday morning!
