I was stunned to read that today is Mardi Gras. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. Lent begins. I had no idea, really: I would have found out at church, of course. But durn, it’s early!
As is the tradition here, at Sarx, I will be posting the daily propers from Extraordinary Roman Rite, along with a daily homily from the old Roman breviary. I will do so as I continue to wrestle with my own inner matters of faith and doubt, of seeking and not-knowing, because doing so is part of “working out my salvation” - I sense it’s the right thing to keep doing.
I will also attempt to seek out google-map sightings of the station churches using the Pontifical North American College website as my resource.
The ancient Roman rite, the station churches, Lent itself, is part of our Patrimony as Christians, east or west. I ask your prayers as I continue my journey and promise mine.
Following the Eastern Tradition, I beg your forgiveness if I have sinned against you in any way and I wish only that someone had sinned against me that I might forgive them as well. And I beg forgiveness of those who, by simple dint of following another path, have been sinned against by Christians of any stripe.
May God forgive us all.

Huw,
my prayers that you have a blessed Lent !
