Ha’Aretz presents an interesting article We don’t need another… Messiah. Focusing on Jewish Messianism over the last 22 centuries or so, the article has this crucial quote in the middle:
By the arrival of the First century of the Common Era, belief in the messiah had become a major pillar of Jewish faith — despite the fact that no mention of a messiah-as-savior exists anywhere in the Torah.
Which called to mind this book, recently suggested to me by Avi: “There Is No Messiah and You’re It.”

Saw “Huw” on a comment at Z-mag and thought, “There’s only one Huw.” And indeed, so it is. Welcome to my latitude, bro. And to — what next in your journey? I’m in Massachusetts. Finished my B.A. in Judaic Studies and working on an M.A. in History. Some say, en route to a PhD, but we’ll see. Good to read that you’re partnered up. Email if the mood strikes you, eh?
Oh, Baby! Howdy! Real live email on the way.
