Be Poets of the Logos!

Sarx (σαρξ) is the Greek word for "flesh". This is the blog of a Southern Man (sojourning in Buffalo, NY) attempting to follow God in the way of Jesus.

NB: I'm currently on a "Blogging Sabbatical" to celebrate my 15th Year of online Journaling. While "Daily Tweets", the occasional review of a book, movie or eatery and Photo Blogging all continue, the daily posts have stopped until January 2011. All comments are currently in moderation.

Fr Peter explores Open Communion on his blog in this post:

I guess I am advocating open communion. I don’t mean that anyone should come up they should at a minimum be baptized in some Christian denomination. After all when I come out of the Holy Place with the chalice in my hands I say approach in the fear of God with faith and with love.

I note he draws the line between “open communion” (for all Christians) and “radically open communion” which removes all bars from approaching the table. In my comments I asked questions that would seek to explore the differences… My point is that you can’t really tell at all one way or the other. I know many people who have taken communion from the Orthodox – some with the knowledge of the clergy, some with the willed un-knowledge of the clergy and some just going forward.

Closed communion makes us (whoever “us” is) feel good. But that’s all.
