Moved in.

3 May 2008 - 29 ניסן 5768 by Huw

I’m all moved into my new place at the Boarding House. For those readers with long memories: yes, it’s like when I first moved to Asheville and, after a short stay in the smallest room of the house, I moved into the largest. My room in this boarding house is about the same size as my bedroom in the house I shared with Todd for the last 3.5 years.

I’ve got everything situated except the clothes and I’ll post pictures once the clothes are put away. Right now they are a huge pile in the middle of the floor and that’s kind of embarrassing.

It’s a three minute walk to work - and for those of you with even longer memories, that’s even closer to work than I was when I lived on Minna Street in SF. I share the space with two other people as well as the landlady’s son’s family who live in the unit upstairs. The others are Deena and Miguel: both are from S. America and speak a lot of Spanish - although they speak English with me.

The neighbourhood is what they call a “Changing Area”. THe houses have all been purchased recently and people are either fixing them up (my landlady owns 3 or 4 houses on this block) or else they are letting them rot as tax write-offs.

Anyway, I’m dead tired after today’s excitement. I’m going to brush my teeth and pass out.

  • Disclaimer

I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men.
