I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men. Fasting – Lentils and Yams

EVIDENTLY The ancient Romans liked to mix black Pepper and Honey as a flavour combo. This sounded interesting to me. But I also had a free sample of McCormick’s Worcestershire Ground Black Pepper Blend. So off to the kitchen I went.

Preheat oven to 350

  1. In a small covered casserole, combine all ingredients. no need to stir.
  2. Cover and place in oven for 35-40 mins.

That’s it.

I’ve begun to love cooking in a covered casserole. It keeps all the moisture in. My favourite: 1 cup each of wild rice and lentils and some water – cook for 45 mins. Maybe add some veggies. I shall try that next with this Pepper and Honey thing.

Btw, near as I can tell, this pepper blend is vegan. Those of you who lament the Lenten loss of Worcestershire b/c of the Anchovies shoudl rejoice!
