Fasting Meta Post

1 August 2008 - 1 אב 5768 by Huw

TODAY Christians of the Eastern Rite (RCs, Orthodox, Liberal Catholic, Anglicans, etc) begin the Dormition Fast. It runs through the first 15 days of the month. In their Podcast, Facing East, Fathers Greg and Peter gave me a couple of shout-outs, as well as mentioning my URL and my Lentil Recipe!

The fasting section of Sarx, over on the older site, contains a number of recipes and posts detailing the last few of years’ attempts at Orthodox fasting. Some of it AIN’T Kosher for Fasting. Look for the recipes marked “Fasting”.

Over time I’ve been moving the older stuff here, but it’s not done yet. So you’ll have to surf over there to see them. To start the fun, mash here, and pardon the auto-metablogging.

A blessed Fast for everyone!

Sarx (σαρξ) is the Greek word for "flesh".

This is the self-ruled blog of an Christian attempting to follow God in the Way of Jesus... sometimes. I most identify with the Anglican and Liberal Catholic flavours. I am a Confederate American sojourning in Buffalo, NY.

  • Disclaimer

I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men.
