I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men. From the Birthday

NOT SURE what was happening here… but it’s a fun shot. Brodie has posted a whole bunch of photos from the weekend.

Friday night, Brodie gave me a tiramisu cake. I think we ate half of it!

Waking up Saturday, we had some breakfast and then we left for Toronto. We met up with Peter (a reader of these pages) as we were shopping in Kensington and then we met with The Gays™ for dinner. We went to a place called Myth. We had amazing Greek food. Good conversation. A lot of fun, too. David and Mark gave me a stoneware bread pan and some tea towels from Williams Sonoma. Then we went out for drinks (where this pic was taken) than it was back to David’s house for some more cocktails. I’ve never had this thing called a “Bloody Caesar” – it was *very* tasty.

Sunday we had brunch at a place called “House on Parliament”. I had the French Toast – all kinds of tasty. Then B and I went shopping and walked around down town, on our way back to the bus station. We took a bus back to Hamilton. We passed out in short order: we were exhausted!

Monday we baked bread – then we took a loaf to B’s Mom. And we cooked her supper, as well: pasta in a sauce made of olive oil, butter, artichoke, roasted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and kalamata olives. There was some strips of grilled chicken breast on top of it as well.

After supper I drove home. In addition to the bread pan, I also got a new clay pot from the Hamilton market. It’s a little larger than my old one, but she gave me a $5 discount. I think I could cook a small roast in it!

Brodie, friends, fun gifts…

I had the best birthday I’ve had in all my adult life.
