Be Poets of the Logos!

Sarx (σαρξ) is the Greek word for "flesh". This is the blog of a Southern Man (sojourning in Buffalo, NY) attempting to follow God in the way of Jesus.

I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men. The River of Fire

Along with my friend, Peter, and Brodie, I visited the Serbian Orthodox Church in Hamilton yesterday. It was floor-to-ceiling icons (and no pews to obscure any of the work)! On the back wall of the church was an image that would have been called a “Doom” in the middle ages: the souls of the righteous rising to the final judgement and the souls of the damned falling into the mouth of a giant beast (here pictured).

It was fun to note that the procession of the damned is being led by a man wearing a Masonic Emblem. Also there are a hand-full of Bishops at the end of the Procession – yet there are no such men in the procession of the blessed (while there are priests and deacons leading the way upwards).

A critique of the power structure, even in icon form.
