Obamania
N TIME For Gay Pride Month, I trust Mr Obama’s continuation of illegal detention, his legal briefs in support of Defence of Marriage Act, and his reneging on Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell has disabused all but the most vitriolic of Democrats of the illusion that the President is anything more or less than another politician attempting to play the system and us for votes. “Change we can believe in” has come to mean “believe in but not see, like the tooth fairy or making a wish on a dandelion.” Another campaign slogan to dope the masses.
Once again: I told you so. Anyone who can succeed to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is exactly nothing more or less than a politician and part of the same machinery of class-based oppression we’ve had in place for 200+ years. Which we bless by calling “democracy” and endorse by our participation.
I’ll keep saying it as long as people are whinging about how “This was supposed to be different but it’s not!” At least I don’t laugh in your faces.
If voting could ever cause a change in our system, it would be illegal. It’s never meant anything more (or less) than that dandelion.

I ignored the man’s colour (like Dr King said to in 1963), paid attention to what he said, took him at his word and stayed home.
The one good thing I can say about that election is most Americans now are above voting against somebody because of race. That’s it.
…And let’s not forget all the money he’s giving away to the rich people who got us into this mess.
Ummm… Lest we forget, it was Bush who started the “bailout” to give millions in corporate welfare to rich folks who raped the economy into rack and ruin with the help of a few decades of Republican deregulation. Obama just inherited that mess.
That’s the whole problem, Gregory, Obama is more of the same. He’s continuing Bush’s policies of socialism for the rich and he’s continuing Bush’s warmongering, war-as-a-first-option policies as well and he’ll keep on doing it until there is a legitimate electoral opposition to his and Democratic party rule.
…and the 21,000 additional troops he wants to send to Afghanistan, not to mention the squat he’s done to get our troops out of Iraq.
Some more insight from James Leroy Wilson:
Of course he’s screwing over gay activists. Just like the GOP uses the conservative Protestants and pro-life RCs. In terms of political power he can afford to diss you and then throw you a few crumbs around election time. Because he knows you’ll never vote Republican.
Bingo, Fogey. It would be interesting if the entire gay community could find a third candidate… but that’s about as useful as not-voting at all. I’m amused to witness the birth of a new generation of cynical voters… remember: Obama was the one who drew in all the youth, etc, by promising them all this stuff. What will happen to them? I predict it will take 10 more years before they are cynical enough to not vote, by which time we will have set through maybe Obama 2 and HRClinton 1, at least. But we’ll see.
The only problem with not voting is that it lets the Talibangelicals win, because they WILL get their folks out to vote, under pain of being excommunicated, ostracized or consigned to fire and brimstone — and I don’t want to live in their world. I value my God-given liberty, relative though it may be in man’s world, too much for that.
