Christ is Risen!

Be Poets of the Logos!

Sarx (σαρξ) is the Greek word for "flesh". This is the blog of a Southern Man (sojourning in Buffalo, NY) attempting to follow God in the way of Jesus.

NB: I'm currently on a "Blogging Sabbatical" to celebrate my 15th Year of online Journaling. While "Daily Tweets", the occasional review of a book, movie or eatery and Photo Blogging all continue, the daily posts have stopped until January 2011. All comments are currently in moderation.

Disclaimer

I who have written this story, or rather this fable, give no credence to the various incidents related in it. For some things in it are the deceptions of demons, other poetic figments; some are probable, others improbable; while still others are intended for the delectation of foolish men. What’s Up at Church?

THE EASTERN RITE Church plant is co-hosting a discussion group this fall and doing other outreaches into the community here in the Allentown neighbourhood of Buffalo.

On the third Friday of each month we have a discussion group, cosponsored by Lafayette Ave Presbyterian Church and Holy Apostles Episcopal Church. It is hosted here, at the Nickel City Housing Co-op, Ol’Wondermoth house, 208 North Street. The next discussion is on Friday 20th November (the Friday before Thanksgiving) and we’ll be talking about Advent. This is modeled on the RCC’s “Theology on Tap” but we’re not in a bar and we’re committed to making the space as hospitable as possible.

Soda and Chips provided: Adult Beverages and other snacks are BYO.

This is an ecumenical/interfaith discussion group. Persons on any path or none are welcomed to participate in an atmosphere of mutual respect and growth.

Third Fridays have a Facebook Group.

We continue meeting on the first and third Sundays for liturgy as well as at various points during the week for morning or evening prayer.

On the final Wednesday of the month – 28th October – we meet to sing the Akathist of Thanksgiving.

Come Spring: there will be a bicycle blessing.

All are invited to come and explore the Eastern Christian heritage in an inclusive, welcoming community.
