This American Life offers an amazing episode on Testosterone and an exploration of what that stuff mean to the women and men who have it flowing in differing amounts through their body.
The religion geek in me was stunned by the Theological Implications in the story of the man who, for physiological reasons, suddenly [...]

Brodie and I saw this band, The Burning Hell, this weekend at the Pepper Jack Cafe in Hamilton. If you get a chance to see them or hear them, get yerself moving! They are most enjoyable. (Some samples on their MySpace page.)
While “Melodramatic Popular Song” is quite descriptive, I have to [...]

First, there were too many words in book 7. Now comes the news they will make too many movies out of it.: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, will be released in two halves.
Hitherto, I’d been left with the impression that the movies were actually improving on the books by editing out all [...]

(A review of Rabbi Steven Greenberg’s Wrestling with God and Men: homosexuality in the Jewish Tradition)
In a recent post, at his Po-Mo Muse, A.J. Stitch shared this passage from his reading of Elie Wiesel’s book Night
After the day I saw him [the rabbi] often. He explained to me with great insistence that every question possessed [...]

The History Channel’s Cities of the Underworld has a wonderful premise: to explore underneath cities of history (Rome, Pompeii, etc.) in the sewers, cisterns, etc. But sadly the host, Don Wildman, seems totally without knowledge of his topic. I’m posting this from my iPod Touch to see how it does. The keyboard is a little odd, but it’s quite useable. It’s sad that I need my spell-check so much that I notice its absence!
(Posted later from laptop:) Interesting to note that things seem load faster on the iTouch than on the [...]

Thanks to Avi, I’ve been reading Emet Ve-Emunah: Statement of Principles of Conservative Judaism. Conservative Judaism is not a Creedal or Confessional Religion (none of Judaism is, I think). Judaism - as I’ve been reading of it - is, like Anglicanism, a propositional religion. There are certain “out of bounds”, but mostly [...]

It’s curious to note that there are no pictures on the Golden Compass (movie) website of Derek Jacobi playing the role of the Magisterial Emissary. It made me laugh outright how much the man looked like Pope Benedict XVI.
There are no pictures of Benedict Jacobi in this role. Odd.
Since I read the book [...]
