I’ve been following the attempt of a couple of American Orthodox to take over the SPCK bookstores in the UK. Over at Cartoon Church, Dave Walker has been a valiant reporter. (The above image links to his category on the topic.) Today’s post announces Further SSG / SPCK shop closures - staff sacked [...]

ROCOR says:
This film is harmful to the spiritual health of our children (and to most adults as well), and thus we should avoid seeing it, or allowing our children to see it.

Ruth tipped me off to an older story (from the end of last year): the Pope is set up “Exorcism Squads” in every diocese because, evidently, the RCs are being inundated with requests for Exorcism!
According to the the Telegraph, it seems “The Vatican is concerned that young people are being exposed to the influence of [...]

The charity some Christian readers show towards doubt is what keeps me Christian. Here’s a tasteful comment to my Advent VI meditation, received from someone who uses AOL (IP Address: 64.12.117.74), and so clearly has no idea that the internet tracks their clicks from this website (via Google reader) to my other website…

DovBear has posted an interesting discussion of the LXX, wondering why the Greek translation of the Torah [...]

Fr Tim has a couple of interesting posts about encouraging your children to seek out vocations in the church. His most recent post has two points that concern me:
1. Keep mainstream mass media out of the home, period. This will go a long way toward creating a prayerful, peaceful, joyful home.
2. Afford no [...]

I suggest Terra’s Episode 405 - Evilution: the filmmaker uses a video seminar from televangelist, convicted tax evader and federal prisoner Kent Hovind as a soundtrack to her work, speaking to Young Earth Creationism.
It comes off rather well as you can’t tell which side made the movie.
But I have a guess.

One of the things I’ve learned in studying the Jewish approach to scripture, is that the Hebrew is Chock Full o’grammatical oddities, errors and glitches. In the explication of same, the Rabbinical Midrash can walk some curious side paths.
Over at DovBear, the Bray of Fundie (love that name!) shares some interesting commentary on a [...]
