This sounded interesting to me. But I also had a free sample of McCormick’s Worcestershire Ground Black Pepper Blend. So off to the kitchen I went.

1 Yam, peeled an cut into cubes.

1 Cup uncooked lentils

1.5 cups of water or veggie broth

1/4 cup of honey

2 tsps (or to taste) of McCormick’s Worcestershire Ground Black Pepper Blend

Preheat oven to 350

In a small covered casserole, combine all ingredients. no need to stir.

Cover and place in oven for 35-40 mins.

That’s it.

I’ve begun to love cooking in a covered casserole. It keeps all the moisture in. My favourite: 1 cup each of wild rice and lentils and some water – cook for 45 mins. Maybe add some veggies. I shall try that next with this Pepper and Honey thing.

Btw, near as I can tell, this pepper blend is vegan. Those of you who lament the Lenten loss of Worcestershire b/c of the Anchovies shoudl rejoice!
